RSO Leadership Institute

Not only are Registered Student Organizations one of the main ways that students spend their time outside of the classroom, but they are one of the most rewarding and effective ways students can build leadership skills during their collegiate career. By participating in an RSO during their time at Richmond students see more connection to their campus, opportunities to use practical knowledge taught to them in class, as well as opportunities to lead their favorite organizations. The RSO Institute is where we at the Center for Student Involvement (CSI) assist them in growing those leadership skills, as well as teach them how to apply them as students and beyond.

This institute is a combination of leadership development and practical skill building. The leadership development components change each semester to meet the evolving needs of the student organization community. Past topics have included workshops around community building, identity-conscious leadership, and strategies for leading an effective team. During the RSO Institute, student leaders will also learn how to plan events on campus, manage a budget, creatively market their events, hold programs that are inclusive, and acquire a variety other tools necessary to lead a thriving student organization.
