Student Activities Complex
Located on the Westhampton College side of campus, the Student Activities Complex is home to the University's National Panhellenic Council (NPC) and National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) organizations, and The Collegian, as well as a large meeting and event venue, called The Web, that is reservable by any registered student organization (RSO).
Sorority Cottages
Centered around a courtyard are nine cottages, where the NPC and NPHC sororities have dedicated space for their members. Only members of these organizations can access the cottages through swipe access with their SpiderCard.
The Web
The Web is a large multipurpose space for meetings or events with moveable furniture to meet the needs of the RSO reserving the space. The indoor capacity for The Web is 200 people (without furniture). The Web is an eligible space for student organizations to host events with alcohol.
Features of The Web
The Web has several distinctive features:
- A catering kitchen featuring ice maker, refrigerator, freezer, as well as a stove and oven
- Full audio-visual capabilities including built-in speakers throughout the space, projector, drop-down screen, Solstice wireless presentation, HDMI and VGA connection cables
- A flat-panel television, connected to cable television and with HDMI connection cable
- Portable stage that can be setup for events
- Wired microphones and microphone stands that can be plugged in and used through the built-in speakers
- Moveable tables and over 100 chairs that can be arranged to fit the meeting or event needs
- Eight round tables that can seat eight people at each table
- Six banquet tables
AV Equipment, stage, tables, and chairs are located in the main closet in The Web. There are two gendered bathrooms located in the lobby and the building is fully ADA accessible.
Reserving The Web and Access
Only registered student organizations are able to reserve The Web. Access to The Web is restricted to those who reserve it through the Event Management System (EMS) and the Event Registration Form in Presence. A swipe card for The Web is required, from the Tyler Haynes Commons Information Desk, in order to access the space.
Any setup for meetings or events within The Web are responsiblity of the RSO who reserved the space. RSOs are also responsible for returning the space to its original confirguration, counters and tables are wiped clean, and any trash is placed into appropriate waste containers at the end of their event.
The Collegian
The Student Activity Complex is home to The Collegian, the student newspaper of the University of Richmond. The Collegian has an office, as well as a podcasting and recording suite within the building. Only members of these organizations can access these spaces.
The Web Lounge
The Web Lounge is our newest student-centered space in the Student Activities Complex. It is accessible via an outdoor entrance on Westhampton Way Road. It contains a large common room with a tv, a work space, restrooms, and a kitchenette. Groups can reserve this space through EMS.
