Registered Student Organization Resources and Policies

Registered Student Organizations (RSOs) are one of the most rewarding ways that a student can become involved in the campus community. Participation in an RSO helps students enhance leadership skills, contribute to the vibrancy of campus, and create a holistic collegiate experience.

Registered Student Organizations are formally recognized by the University and originate out of student interest. The Center for Student Involvement grants the institutional recognition of an organization through a chartering application process. They are formed by current students sharing a common goal or interest, properly completing the necessary requirements, and agreeing to adhere to guidelines established by the University and within the Registered Student Organization Handbook.

  • Student Organization Mail

    All Recognized Student Organizations may use the Center for Student Involvement to receive paper mail. Mail will be delivered to the CSI Front Desk where Front Desk Assistants will notify organizations of their delivery. All paper mail will be filed at the CSI Front Desk. Reminder emails to pick up mail deliveries will be sent out weekly on Mondays.

    Sport Club mailboxes are in the Sports Club Center in the Weinstein Center for Recreation.

    Religious / Spiritual Organization mailboxes are located in the Wilton Center.

  • Student Organization Storage
    Recognized Student Organizations can obtain a storage bin, through the Center for Student Involvement. They are located in Grey Court.

    Eligibility

    Recognized student organizations are eligible for a storage bin with the following exceptions:

    • Organizations on Probationary Status
    • Organizations with Chapter or dedicated spaces

    Assignment & Application

    • Storage bins are assigned for one academic year (Fall and Spring semester)
    • Organizations may keep their storage space as long as they maintain status as a recognized student organization
      • Orgs MUST renew each academic year to keep their space
    • Student organizations will apply for storage space through SpiderCentral
    • If space is available organizations will be provided with a storage space/bin(s)
    • If space is not available, organizations will go on a waitlist

    Guidelines

    • CSI staff and URPD have the right to inspect any storage bin to ensure proper usage along with safety audits
    • If an organization loses status or forfeits their storage locker, items must be claimed within 5 days or they will be discarded
    • In the event that an organization is not using a storage bin but has reserved one, CSI reserves the right to reassign the bin
    • Storage bins must be kept clean and organized
    • In the event that a storage bin is damaged (or requires excessive cleaning) the responsible party will be referred to the Organization Conduct Process and will be prohibited from reserving a storage bin in the future

    Prohibited Items

    • Perishable food
    • Oil or other flammable/explosive liquids
    • Matches or fire-starting devices
    • Alcohol/Drugs (including tobacco products, e-cigs, and vapes)
    • Weapons
    • Plants

  • Issues Within Your Organization

    The Center for Student Involvement staff are available to assist members and registered student organizations with any issues that may arise. Common issues we are here to assist with:

    • Interpersonal dynamics between members
    • Succession and transition of student leaders
    • Student leader development
    • Revising bylaws
    • Fundraising and philanthropy 

  • Programming & Event Resources

    Whether your student group is looking to rent AV equipment to play music at an upcoming event or wanting to accurately track your event attendance, CSI has the tools and processes in place to support your organization’s programming.
