Facilities & Spaces
Fraternities and sororities at the University of Richmond have the opportunity to lease a dedicated facility housed on-campus, known as the lodges and cottages. These are non-residential spaces and are intended for meetings, events, and community building.
While chapters have the benefit of dedicated space, they are additionally able to host meetings, events, and programs in reservable on-campus spaces.
Space Inspections
All organizations with a dedicated space participate in weekly inspections. These inspections will include a staff member of the Center for Student Involvement and member of the University Facilities team.
Each organization is expected to have a dedicated leadership role (commonly referred to as the House Manager or Facilities Director) that must be present during weekly space inspections.
Access & Security
Students have 24-hour access to their organization’s dedicated space during the academic year, throughout the conclusion of the term.
During Winter and Summer break periods, students will not have access to their spaces and are expected to prepare accordingly. The Center for Student Involvement will communicate facility closing expectations prior to the conclusion of each semester.

In the event expectations are not met during the inspections, the Center for Student Involvement has written out a policy walking the chapters through the different repercussions.

Break Periods
During the University’s winter and summer break periods, there will be no access to the lodge or cottages. Prior to the break periods, the Center for Student Involvement works with the individual chapters to make sure the appropriate arrangements are made. Please review the following attachments for more information.

Lease Agreements
All fraternities and sororities with designated space on campus are required to be on lease agreements. Lease agreements are made between the university and the individual chapter’s nationals or housing corporation. Both parties will have access to completed, signed copies of the lease agreement. The following attachments contain pieces of information from the lease agreement that are pertinent to the chapter specifically.
