Interested In Joining?

The University of Richmond is home to a handful of both, culturally-based and historically African American Greek-lettered organizations. Current active chapters include Alpha Psi Lambda, the University’s first co-ed Latinx fraternity, and two National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC, also known as the Divine-9) organizations - Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated.

Chapters host interest or informational meetings where students learn about the organization’s mission, values, and membership expectations. These sessions outline the application process, academic and community standards, and financial obligations. Students who may be interested in culturally-based or Divine-9 organization are encouraged to attend these individual chapter events to learn more.

Membership Intake Process

Interested students can expect to:

  • Submit a membership application

  • Participate in an interview or selection process

  • If selected, complete the Membership Intake Process (MIP)

Once the MIP is completed, new members are formally initiated and presented to the campus community. Chapters manage their own membership intake process independently, but all emphasize learning, leadership, service, and community engagement.
